Ingredients
3
pounds
sirloin steak
(cut into bite size pieces)
1
cup
yellow onion
(diced)
3
tablespoons
butter
3
cloves
garlic
(minced)
1
cup
low sodium beef broth
(you can also use water)
½
teaspoon
salt
1
teaspoon
ground black pepper
¼
teaspoon
red pepper flakes
1
ounce
packet au jus gravy mix
Instructions
Cut steak into bite-size pieces and add them to the Crock Pot. Then, add butter and onions on top.
Add garlic, beef broth, salt, black pepper, red pepper, and au jus gravy mix to a medium bowl. Whisk until well combined and pour over steak bites.
Cover and cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 7-8 hours.
Notes
Cut the raw beef into pieces that are a little larger than bite-sized because they will shrink as they cook.
Give the muscle fibers in the beef more time to break down and the fat more time to render by cooking the steak bites on low.
Sear the steak bites in a hot skillet for a few minutes before adding them to the slow cooker to seal in the flavor and add color to the meat.
