This "set it and forget it" recipe for Crock Pot Sloppy Joes delivers so much flavor! These irresistibly saucy sandwiches will remind you of the childhood favorite with rich ground beef, a sweet and tangy sauce, and the best mix of spices.
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook for 6-8 minutes or until browned, breaking up the ground beef with a spatula.
Add onions and green peppers and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes or until they become soft.
Drain off excess grease and add the meat to the slow cooker.
Add tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, yellow mustard, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, salt, onion powder, and paprika to the slow cooker. Stir everything together.
Cover and cook on high for 2½-3 hours or on low for 6-7 hours.
Serve hot on hamburger buns and enjoy!
Notes
I suggest using 80/20 or 90/10 lean beef for this recipe.
Brown the meat on the stovetop to give it the most flavor.
Dice the onions and green peppers into small, uniform pieces so they cook evenly.
Add a few extra drops of Worcestershire sauce if you want!
Prevent soggy sandwiches by lightly toasting your hamburger buns before serving.
Let leftovers cool completely before refrigerating or freezing.
