Cobbler is a fruit-based dessert that typically includes a fruit filling and a biscuit or pie crust topping. There are many variations of cobbler, but the slow cooker blueberry cobbler is one of the easiest to make!

This easy cobbler recipe is made with just three simple ingredients. Blueberry pie filling, which adds sweetness and a beautiful blueberry color, a box of yellow cake mix, and melted butter. That's it!

Combine the ingredients and cook until the blueberries are warm and gooey and the cake mix forms a golden brown crust. Serve Crock Pot Blueberry Cobbler warm, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra special treat!

Whether you're looking for an easy dessert recipe or just want something comforting and delicious, slow-cooker blueberry cobbler is the way to go!

    Why You’ll Love This Recipe

    • Scrambling to come up with dessert? This recipe is easy to assemble AND easy to enjoy.
    • The pre-made pie filling and cake mix are inexpensive and save you loads of time.
    • This dessert can be enjoyed by itself, with whipped cream, or even with a scoop of ice cream.
    • Blueberry cobbler serves itself and stays warm in the crockpot.

    Ingredients You’ll Need

    • Blueberry Pie Filling - This ingredient usually comes canned and contains blueberries, sugar, cornstarch, and cinnamon.
    • Yellow Cake Mix - You’ll need the dry mix, so no eggs or oil are required. This ingredient creates a golden crust on top.
    • Unsalted Butter - Melts into the cake mix to give it a crumbly texture.

How To Make Blueberry Cobbler In The Crock Pot

Spread the pie filling: Open the can of blueberry pie filling and spread it out at the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker.

Sprinkle on cake mix: Open the yellow cake mix and sprinkle it over the top of the blueberry filling in an even layer.

Add the butter: Cut the butter into squares and sprinkle them on top of the cake mix. Do not mix!

Cover and cook: Add the lid and cook on HIGH for 2½ to 3 hours or until the mixture is warmed through and the cake mix is cooked. Enjoy while hot!

    Recipe Tips

    • Make sure you purchase blueberry pie filling and not just canned blueberries. The filling will have sugar and other necessary ingredients for this recipe.
    • Slow cookers can vary, so keep an eye on your cobbler the first time you make it. Mine was cooked through at 2½ hours, but yours may need a little less or a little more time.
    • Once you add the cake mix and butter to the top, do not mix as this will cause the cake mix to sink to the bottom.

    Variations

    • Change up the cake mix flavor: Instead of yellow cake mix, try using a white cake mix, spice cake mix, or even chocolate cake mix!
    • Add extra fruit: Top your slow cooker blueberry cobbler with fresh berries, sliced peaches, or chopped apples.
    • Make it a Cobbler Crisp: For a little extra crunch, add ½ cup of chopped nuts to the top of the cobbler before cooking.
    • Try other fillings: you can use any other fruit pie filling. Cherry, raspberry, and blackberry would all be delicious!
    • Serving suggestions: Serve slow cooker blueberry cobbler warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or with a drizzle of caramel or chocolate sauce.

    Storing & Freezing

Storing: Once cooled, transfer any leftovers to an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Freezing: Blueberry cobbler can be frozen for up to 2 months. Place it in a freezer-safe container and thaw in the fridge overnight before reheating.

    FAQ

    Can I use fresh blueberries?

If you're using fresh blueberries, you'll want to make sure you make a whole pie filling that includes sugar and cornstarch as well.

What's the difference between crisp and cobbler?

A cobbler is a fruit dessert with a biscuit or cake-like topping, while a crisp has a streusel-like topping usually made with oats, flour, butter, and sugar.

Where can I find canned blueberry pie filling?

You can find it in the baking aisle of most grocery stores, along with other kinds of canned fruit pie fillings.
