Ingredients
It only takes 4 basic pizza ingredients to make this recipe, and you can find them all at your local grocery store. It's as easy as pie - pizza pie.
- Pizza Dough: Save time and pick up your favorite refrigerated pizza dough in the store. It's mixed and ready to go. If you have a pizza place you love you can also see if they will sell you a dough ball! Just make sure you use a similar amount as that listed in the recipe so it cooks in the allotted time.
- Marinara sauce: Any flavor works. You can even use jarred pizza sauce which is a bit sweeter and thicker if you want.
- Mozzarella cheese: The traditional pizza cheese! Buy it pre-shredded to save time or buy a block and shred it yourself. - shredded
- Pepperoni: Pick up pre-sliced pepperoni to save yourself some time.
See the recipe card below for the full ingredient list and exact quantities of each ingredient.
Flavor Variations
- Spicy: Add some red pepper flakes to your sauce for a spicy kick or add some sliced jalapenos to the top.
- Deluxe: Add sliced onions, bell peppers, and black olives before the cheese.
- Kid-Friendly: Omit the pepperoni for a cheese pizza they will love!
- Swap the Pepperoni: Instead you can try another meat such as cooked bacon, ham, cooked ground beef or Italian sausage.
- Meat Lover's: Add any combination of meats you love!
- BBQ Chicken: Swap the marinara sauce for BBQ sauce and then top with shredded chicken and a blend of cheddar and mozzarella cheese.
- Vegetarian: Keep it all veggies with onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, olives, or any other pizza vegetables you love!
How To Make Pizza in the Crock Pot
- Step 1: Prep the slow cooker. Spray the inside of your crock pot with non-stick cooking spray.
- Step 2: Make the crust. Press the pizza dough evenly into the bottom of the slow cooker and 1 inch up the sides.
- Step 3: Add the toppings. Top the crust with the sauce, cheese, and pepperoni.
- Step 4: Cook the pizza. Cook until the edge of the crust is golden and the cheese is melted.
Hint for Easy Removal and Optimal Cooking
BE SURE to spray your crock pot with non-stick spray so you get a crust that's golden brown, not burned. This also makes it much easier to remove from the slow cooker after it's done cooking.
Storage
- Leftovers: Place them in an air-tight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or the freezer for up to a month.
- Reheat: Thaw out first if it's frozen. Microwave slices at 30-second intervals until hot. You can also reheat in the oven at 350° F until heated through.

Expert Tips
- Easy Cleanup. Spray your cock pot evenly coated with cooking spray. This makes the pizza easy to remove and also makes cleanup a breeze.
- Even Crust. Try to keep the pizza crust as even as possible when pressing it into the bottom and up the sides of the ceramic pot.
- Adding Meat. If you add meats like sausage or ground beef to your pizza, be sure to cook them BEFORE topping the pizza with them.
Recipe FAQs
The pizza dough you use will probably play a role in the texture. I find the sides do crisp up slightly but not the same way they do in an oven.
The pizza crust is done when the edges are golden brown and crisp to the touch.
No, I have found the larger 6-quart oval crockpot works best. A smaller one doesn't allow you to spread out the dough enough and turns out uncooked.
