• Smoked Kielbasa Sausage: This Polish sausage has a distinct smoky flavor and is very savory. It’s the perfect complement for cheesy pierogies.
• Red Bell Pepper: Add a little color and sweetness with bite-sized pieces of red bell pepper in the casserole.
• Alfredo Sauce: Give this casserole a rich flavor and creamy texture with your favorite jarred Alfredo sauce. This cheesy sauce packs a lot of flavor into the dish.
• Garlic: Fresh or jarred garlic adds a little zesty flavor to the casserole.
• Cheddar Cheese: This cheesy kielbasa and pierogi casserole taste best with freshly shredded sharp cheddar cheese. It gives it an extra bite and burst of flavor.
• Green Onions: Freshly chopped green onions are the perfect garnish for pierogies. Don’t skip adding them on top of your casserole when serving.

How to Make Pierogi Casserole in the Crock Pot

1. Step 1: Add the Pierogies and Kielbasa. Place the frozen pierogies, sliced kielbasa sausage, and chopped bell pepper in the bottom of a 6-quart crock pot. Toss them equally to distribute the meat and pierogies throughout the dish.

2. Step 2: Add the Sauce.Mix the Alfredo sauce, garlic, and seasonings in a bowl. Pour the sauce over the pierogies and kielbasa.

3. Step 3: Let It Cook. Secure the lid on the slow cooker and let the casserole cook for 2½ to 3½ hours on high or 4-5 hours on low.

4. Step 4: Add the Cheese. In the last 15 minutes of cooking, sprinkle the shredded cheese over the top of the pierogi crockpot casserole. Cover again until the cheese melts completely. Then garnish with green onions before serving.

Storage Directions 

• Storing: If you have leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. You can also freeze this pierogi and kielbasa casserole for about 2 months.
• Reheating: Reheat leftovers in the microwave or on the stove until heated through. You may need to add a splash of chicken broth or water to keep the pierogies moist as they reheat. Be sure to thaw frozen leftovers in the fridge for 24 hours before reheating.
