How To Make Chicken and Stuffing In The Crock Pot

Season the chicken: Mix the dried seasonings in a small mixing bowl until combined. Sprinkle the seasoning on both sides of the chicken, then add it to the bottom of the slow cooker.

Add the green beans and stuffing: To the top of the chicken, add the canned green beans, diced celery, and onion.

Mix the wet ingredients: In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk together the chicken broth, cream of chicken soup, and sour cream until combined and pour it into the slow cooker without mixing.

Cook the slow cooker chicken: Add the lid to the top and cook on HIGH for about 3½ to 4½ hours or LOW for 6-7 hours.

Fluff and serve: Once the chicken is fully cooked, remove and plate. Gently mix the stuffing and green bean mixture to combine fully. Plate and serve hot. Enjoy!

Cooking Tips

  • Before seasoning, trim the excess fat off the chicken breasts to ensure they have the best texture.
  • For even cooking, you may want to filet the chicken into smaller pieces.
  • When adding the wet mixture to the crockpot, do not mix as this will cause the green beans to become mushy.
  • Remove the chicken first before mixing the stuffing and green beans as mixing together will cause the chicken to break apart.

Variations

  • Instead of chicken breast, you can use bone-in chicken breast, chicken thighs, or bone-in chicken thighs.
  • Turkey tenderloin or turkey breast can also be used in place of chicken.
  • You can use many different types of dry stuffing mix flavors, including herb, sausage, cornbread, and more!
  • Add additional vegetables to the mix, including carrots, potatoes, mushrooms, and broccoli.
  • Give this dish a kick of heat by adding a few dashes of hot sauce, cayenne pepper, or red pepper flakes.
  • Make it creamier by using milk in place of chicken broth or swapping out the sour cream for Greek yogurt.
  • For a lighter version, use low-fat or fat-free cream of chicken soup and low-fat or fat-free sour cream.
  • Instead of cream of chicken soup, you can also use cream of mushroom soup, cream of celery, or cream of onion soup.

Storing: If you have leftovers, ensure they are cool, then store them in an airtight container in the fridge. They will last for up to four days.

Freezing: This crock pot chicken and stuffing recipe can also be frozen! Let the dish cool completely, then store it in a freezer-safe bag or container. When you’re ready to eat, thaw it overnight in the fridge, then reheat it on the stove or microwave.
