Crock Pot Meatloaf Ingredients
This recipe uses simple, basic ingredients you can find in your kitchen or at your local grocery store. Everything you need to make it is listed right here, but you can find the exact amounts in the recipe card at the end of the post.
- Ground Beef: Ground beef is the classic meat for homemade meatloaf. However, you could use a 50/50 mix of ground beef and pork.
- Ritz Crackers: Ritz crackers help bind the meatloaf mixture together and adds a subtle buttery flavor.
- Eggs: Eggs work with the crackers to bind the meatloaf together and add more moisture.
- Milk: Milk adds moisture to the meatloaf to keep it from drying out.
- Ketchup, Yellow Mustard, and Worcestershire Sauce: Mixed into the meatloaf, this combination adds sweet and tangy flavor and more moisture to the dish.
- Salt, Black Pepper, and Minced Garlic: A classic meatloaf combination, the salt and pepper accentuate the other flavors in the meatloaf, and the minced garlic adds an earthy, slightly sweet, and pungent flavor that works well with the sweetness of the other ingredients.
- Lipton Onion Soup Mix: My secret ingredients. Lipton onion soup adds more depth of flavor than simply adding diced onions to the meatloaf.
- Ketchup, Mustard, and Brown Sugar: These ingredients create the classic sweet and tangy meatloaf glaze we all know and love.

Frequently Asked Questions
You can substitute ground pork, veal, turkey, chicken, or even chorizo for some or all of the ground beef. However, adjust the cooking time for poultry as it cooks faster, and start checking to see if it is done around 2 hours.
You can substitute Ritz crackers with other fillers like breadcrumbs, stuffing mix, cooked rice, cooked quinoa, or rolled oats. You may need to adjust the amount of milk you add so the meatloaf is not dry.
Diced vegetables like onions, peppers, carrots, mushrooms, or even blanched spinach work well in meatloaf. You can also add red pepper flakes for a kick of heat.
Absolutely! Combine the meatloaf ingredients and refrigerate the mixture for up to 24 hours before cooking it.
You sure can! Make everything as usual and pop it onto a foil-lined baking sheet. Cook at 350 degrees for 60 minutes. Then, add the glaze and broil for 3-5 minutes until it bubbles.

Can you line the crockpot with a crockpot liner or does it need to be foil
Ryan Allen
I recommend foil so you can transfer it to a baking sheet and broil it for 3-5 minutes. Using liners makes it hard to transfer them to a baking sheet. Also, liners tend not to be broiler friendly.
